Filming Session 5
Yesterday evening we carried out our final filming session. Unfortunately, the HD camera we borrowed from school did not work and the charger did not fit therefore we could not film in HD. Luckily, I had an alternative camera that we were able to use but the quality is very poor in comparison. As a result, we have a lot of out-of-focus shots. However, we did manage to re-film everything we intended to so we can edit these into our film in our lesson.

Editing
Today we continued to edit our film to ensure that all of our material was in sync and ready for the new shots to be fitted in next lesson. We wanted to make sure that all the shots we plan to keep are in time so that we can focus on the new footage when we have it.

Final Re-film
Our final re-filming session will take place Wednesday 28th November, again at my house. This will be our last chance to get the footage we want before Friday's deadline. We will need to ensure we have the list of shots that we wrote out last week that we need to shoot.

Today...
In today's lesson, we finished editing our new footage into our video. After watching it through, there are still shots that we are not happy with and would like to change. Next week, we need to organise one last filming session before the deadline which will allow us to get the shots we want. The main issue seems to be the instrumental so we have looked at Kelly Clarkson's video for Since U Been Gone which has given us some inspiration.
Re-Filming
In today's lesson we also organised which of the scenes we still want to tweak and re-film. We found that with our new footage edited into the video, it merely highlighted the lower quality from other sessions, and so we have written up all the final scenes that must be improved slightly.

Filming Session 4
Today, we re-filmed all of the shots we intended to. The filming session went well because we were able to create perfect lighting and the finished shots looked more professional than the original versions we had. Also, since we had already organised everything prior to the session, we were able to get through it quickly. The only thing we would have liked more of, is footage for the instrumental therefore, in order to solve this, we will try and film some more before next Friday's deadline.

Filming Date Alteration
Due to our main star being unavailable, we have re-scheduled our filming session to take place on Tuesday, after school, at my house.

- Make-Up (concealer, lipstick, eyeliner)
- Hair spray (to add volume to her hair)

This Week...
As we have now finished our Digipak's we will be focusing on improving our music video. We have arranged to meet up this Sunday at Shannon's house to re-film some of the scenes and change elements of our video. The key areas we will be improving include the dark scenes of the video, such at shots in the bedroom, and changing the content of the instrumental.
This Sunday is meant to be fairly sunny and so we will have the option of re-filming outdoor scenes, and will have more natural light indoors to improve the shots.

Response to Digipak Feedback - Charlotte
The key improvements for my Digipak and poster, that I received from my feedback, were;
- The fonts on the cover and poster could be made clearer and bolder, so that they stand out and are easier to read.
- The photos have been over brightened and need to be more natural.
- My barcode is over sized, and more small print could be included.
- Using a font that is less hand-writing style, and more legible and clear.
- Keeping the photos in a simple black and white with minimal editing.
- Making my barcode narrower and adding extra copyright details.

Response to Feedback
After receiving teacher feedback on our draft music video, we have decided
to re-film several parts of our video. Firstly, we need to re-film all the
shots where the lighting is poor and ensure that shadows don't overpower the
star; it is essential that are shots contain clarity to make it aesthetically
appealing to watch. We plan to change the instrumental section completely; our
feedback was that the running shots don't work too well therefore, after
discussing the options, we decided we could have a montage of shots where the
star is despairing (possibly tearing up a photograph) however we need to decide
whether this is enough to fill the entire 40 seconds.
In some of the indoor shots, the camera is shaky (bedroom scenes are due to not having a tripod) and the zooming is jolty therefore, in response to this, we will re-film these and aim to create smoother transitions and camera movement. We also could use more shots of Kayleigh playing the guitar and put aside some time for her to practice so it looks more realistic and like she can play guitar.
The styling aspects can be fixed, when we re-film, we will have her wear dresses rather than light pink jeans and try to achieve bigger hair volume. If we are able to re-do the shots with the boy then we will make the recommended changes in regards to location and costume.

New Digipak Progress
Due to our new photographs, I have chosen like Shannon, to start my Digipak over and try to take into account my feedback. I hope that this Digipak will appear far more professional and attract our target audience. Here is the way my new Digipak progressed;

These print screen shots show the progression in creating my improved digipak. After receiving my teacher and peer feedback, I decided to completely start over and use a different style and look to before.

Girl excellent at lip sych, acting, emoting and making the song her own
EBI
· Avoid the outdoors i.e tree shot of her texting on ground and running and the bridge
· Lighten around the eyes – eg. Concealer
· Meeting point –avoid brick wall and have a coffee, looking sophisticated and holding hands across table
· Clothing; like neutrals but trousers too light when filming ( girl) bigger hair volume
· Clothing – chinos and shirt and shoes (not trainers) for boy; bouffant hair(!)
· Lighting poor in window shots and bedroom; tracing paper across window or light curtains, carpet darker rug.
· Like guitar shots but practise and don’t have silly poses with guitar; play it!
· Stand girl on box when in 2 shot with boy
· Camera too static, so movement needed; tracks, pans, zooms ( be careful as too jerky)
· Nice chair to play guitar in?
· Room to bland and magnolia; pretty lights or tea lights, little pictures etc.

New Photos
For our draft Digipaks and poster we used images of Kayleigh, that had been taken by Samuel Shelton. But for our final products we have taken some new photographs ourselves. We went to Shannon's house today and had a little time to take a few new images of Kayleigh.

Digipak Mark Scheme
Digipak Advert Mark Scheme
This is the mark scheme for the digipak and poster, this is helpful as it shows us the criteria we need to work to when we are improving our designs.

Peer Evaluation
Here, I have evaluated the work of my peers, despite the fact that their genres are not similar to ours, it is still useful to look at layouts and ideas.

Panorama over 3 panels is a nice idea
Pose on front panel suitable, now find model
EBI
Beach feels out of place and unconnected to product
Take a lyric/song title and attempt to ‘amplify’ via digi pac
Back panel weak, hiding idea nice BUT the white door/staircase doesn’t work
Select more suitable font
Remember thirds and golden spiral for cover
Colour palate needs attention, too bland (muted colour pallet could work i.e. cream, yellow etc)
Go back to research and see what you could include
Low level 2 4/10

Draft Music Video
Here is the draft of our music video. Unfortunately we were unable to directly upload the video from the mac we edited it on and so had to temporarily filmed the video from the screen using my phone. Hopefully we will be able to upload the actual version soon.
There are still several elements of the video we are unhappy with, such as some dark scenes we will re film and we still need to tweak editing adding in more zoom and improving lip syncing However you can establish the general look our final video will have.
