Editing

Today we continued to edit our film to ensure that all of our material was in sync and ready for the new shots to be fitted in next lesson. We wanted to make sure that all the shots we plan to keep are in time so that we can focus on the new footage when we have it.

This Week...

As we have now finished our Digipak's we will be focusing on improving our music video. We have arranged to meet up this Sunday at Shannon's house to re-film some of the scenes and change elements of our video. The key areas we will be improving include the dark scenes of the video, such at shots in the bedroom, and changing the content of the instrumental.

This Sunday is meant to be fairly sunny and so we will have the option of re-filming outdoor scenes, and will have more natural light indoors to improve the shots.

New Digipak Progress

Due to our new photographs, I have chosen like Shannon, to start my Digipak over and try to take into account my feedback. I hope that this Digipak will appear far more professional and attract our target audience. Here is the way my new Digipak progressed;

These print screen shots show the progression in creating my improved digipak. After receiving my teacher and peer feedback, I decided to completely start over and use a different style and look to before.

Draft Music Video

Here is the draft of our music video. Unfortunately we were unable to directly upload the video from the mac we edited it on and so had to temporarily filmed the video from the screen using my phone. Hopefully we will be able to upload the actual version soon.

There are still several elements of the video we are unhappy with, such as some dark scenes we will re film and we still need to tweak editing adding in more zoom and improving lip syncing  However you can establish the general look our final video will have.

Next Week...

Next week is half term therefore today we discussed what shots still need to be filmed.
We have found that the only bits that we have left to film are the shots of Kayleigh singing in a bedroom so we need to organise another filming session during the half term and then we should have all our footage. We need to put all of our footage on a memory stick and bring it in to school on Monday 29th October so we can get straight onto editing it together. Our deadline for the draft gives us one week to finish editing after half term.

Costume

After considering our budget, we have decided that we will both go home and select the most appropriate items from our own wardrobes, that would be suitable for Verity in our video. We will then experiment with outfits on Kayleigh to see which fit/suit her best and are most in keeping with our characters personality. The items we will try to find are those primarily in nude tones or floral designs and of an elegant and demure cut.

This Week...

This week we need to draw up our digipak designs and upload them onto our Blog.
We also need to start filming our video and organise a day where our main star Kayleigh is available to start filming the outdoor shots. We cannot start the indoor filming until next week because our male role Sam is not available this week. Sunday has the most promising weather forecast this week therefore we will aim to arrange filming for this day.

This week..

By the end of this week we will have both completed 3 analysis' each of existing album covers and made a start on analysing 3 posters each that match our genre. We also need to start planning our our own digipak ideas, making sure that we take themes and colours into consideration when planning our designs.

This Week...

This week we have been drawing up our storyboards and uploading the shots to make an animatic. This gives a good visual image of how our video will fit together and allows us to see if there are any changes that need to be made. By the end of today, we will have completed the animatic and our section for research and planning will be complete.

This Week...

The main focus for this week is to begin story boarding our ideas for the video and then moving on to animate them online. For each shot we sketch we will also decide details of its duration, camera movement and location. The purpose of our story board is to allow us to effectively organise our ideas and allow us to film in a time saving manner, grouping similar shots/scenes.
We are also preparing our letter requesting the permission for use of Taylor Swifts song.

This week...

This week, we will pitch our idea to the class using our animoto and 25 word pitch. This is useful to see the reaction and how people respond to the concept. Then we will collect feedback and see if there is anything to do that would improve our idea or anything we need to change in order to improve our overall piece.

Progress

Today, we talked about how we are going to go about creating our music video and what we need to sort out. We need to find a second female role for our video in order to create a believable narrative and also find a suitable location to film different shots in. We also need to find suitable outfits for our artist to wear that reflect her genre of music.

Who we've chosen and why

We have decided that a Taylor Swift song would be good to use for our music video. We have chosen her because her songs are not too fast (which will make lip syncing easier), her lyrics can be used effectively to create a narrative in our video and also because both of us have a genuine interest in her music and genre. After completing the preliminary task, it became apparent that matching the visuals to the lyrics is actually quite difficult, especially when the star is singing therefore, we need to chose a steady-paced song and, in our video, we need to spend a lot of time ensuring that the syncing looks believable.
